Silver is an independent, B Corp-certified B2B brand and marketing agency working across the UK and US. Its Motion team builds storyboards in Boords that are designed to brand from the first frame and reviewed together by Motion, Design, and Copy, so clients can see what their video will look like before production begins.

Silver is an independent, B Corp-certified B2B brand and marketing agency that unites strategy, creativity, and technology. It works with brands across Europe and the US, particularly in technology, cyber security, and financial services, including award-winning campaigns for Finastra and Dell Technologies.
Those are industries where messages easily become overly technical or lost in jargon. Silver's job is to break through the noise, and in video that starts long before the visuals.
“Just because you're communicating about a technical product or a complex idea, it doesn't mean the answer is to fill the script with as much information as possible.”
The video work sits with Silver's Motion team, alongside in-house Design, Copywriting, Strategy, and Client Services teams. Storyboarding can be handled by either Design or Motion, and it is always a collaborative process.
Before 2018, Silver illustrated storyboards by hand and scanned them in to create PDFs. The Design team also tried building storyboard templates in InDesign, but found them restrictive to add to and update. A longer description meant reformatting the whole page. A new frame in the middle of the board meant a lot of reworking.
The Motion team has used Boords exclusively since Silver adopted it. Chloe Lewitt, Silver's Motion Team Lead, would not want the studio to return to that manual process:
“Arranging all the frames manually on a page in software is extremely time-consuming and I wouldn't want to return to this! Reordering frames, and changing descriptions around is so complex if you're just working on one page. Let alone working on paper!”
The team was looking for a better way to collate, present, and share its storyboards. That is where Boords came in.
“Using black and white sketches, scamps or placeholder imagery can sometimes create more questions than answers.”
Each board starts from a clear brief and, wherever possible, an agreed script. Campaign videos build on creative the Design team has already established.
Then the storyboard takes shape in Boords. Splitting the script out frame by frame sets the structure of the video, and the frames are designed to that structure and refined if it shifts along the way.
Those frames are not rough placeholders. Most Silver videos are built around existing client branding and visual guidelines, so the frames are brand compliant from the start, and the only stock footage on the board is footage that will appear in the final video.
“We have pivoted away from using sketches and scamps for storyboarding for our clients, because they often prefer to see frames as direct promises of what the visuals will look like in the final video. This fills them with more confidence, as it is a realistic representation and commitment to what their video will look like.”
Many of the assets created for the storyboard move straight into Silver's production files. AI helps the team understand technical scripts, suggest stock footage, and spark early ideas, but in line with Silver's public AI Charter, the judgement stays human.
“An AI suggestion can be useful as a starting point, but it still takes a creative mind to judge whether something "feels" right for the brand, whether it has the right tone and if it actually aligns with the campaign's wider purpose.”
Before a board reaches the client, it is reviewed collaboratively across Motion, Design, and Copy. Each discipline brings its own eye for quality, and together they make sure the frames are accurate, on brand, and true to the script.
“To share storyboards outside the Motion team, it's as simple as sending them a link. The designers, copywriters and client services team are able to jump straight into the online storyboard and leave comments easily and quickly.”
Versions mark clear milestones without overwriting earlier work, and clients see a clean copy of the board, without internal comments or earlier versions.
Silver is fully remote, with teams and clients in the UK and US, so most presentations happen over screenshare. The team walks clients through the board frame by frame.
“Talking through storyboards frame by frame during presentations using Boords is a great way to bring the client on the journey with us, and allows them to give feedback actively as we present.”
For Silver, the payoff is the client's confidence. When the frames are polished and true to the brand, the client can judge the idea itself. When they are not, the details get in the way.
“Polish and attention to detail is everything! A client can and will notice small inconsistencies immediately, such as logos being incorrect, or brand guidelines not being followed perfectly, and this can really break their trust and can distract their review of the storyboard as a whole.”
Boords has supported that standard since 2018. Across 1,000+ storyboards, the way the team works in it has barely changed.
“It's been a great and reliable constant for us.”
The whole Motion team uses Boords daily. Asked what has made the biggest difference, Chloe points to the review.
“Sharing storyboards for feedback is easy and straightforward, and being able to see comments for specific frames with annotations is a huge step above comments on a PDF showing multiple frames at once.”
Looking ahead, Silver has developed Cylvy®, its own AI-powered marketing intelligence platform, to help it understand clients' markets and audiences more deeply before the creative work starts. The principle behind it is the same one that shapes every storyboard.
“The technology helps us uncover opportunities and insights, but it's the people behind the work who turn those insights into ideas, stories and campaigns that connect!”
At Silver, the storyboard is a commitment to the creative. Clients see the vision clearly, on brand and in detail, so by the time they sign off, they have already seen the video they are going to get.
Frames follow the client's brand guidelines from the start, so the board is a faithful preview of the final video.
The board is reviewed together across disciplines, with comments on the exact frame, so each specialist catches what the others might miss.
Clients are taken through the board shot by shot, so the creative vision is clear and they can respond as the story unfolds.
