PDF for client sign-off
A print-ready storyboard with your cover, layout and footer, made in your browser and downloaded straight away.
- Layouts
- Eight, from Full page and Two up to a Six or Eight frame grid and a Frame list. The choice depends on your frame shape.
- Paper
- A4 landscape, or widescreen. Frame list prints on A4 portrait.
- Your branding
- Build a cover in Boords or upload your own. Add your logo, a version number, page numbers and the document name to the footer, and pick the font and colours.
- Whole projects
- Choose Download all as PDF in the project menu to get every storyboard's latest version as a PDF, in a ZIP. On paid plans and trials.
- Plans
- Every plan. Free PDFs carry a Boords watermark, and trial PDFs are watermarked previews.
MP4 animatic for timing and pacing
Show the client how the spot plays before anything is shot. Every frame at its timing, with your soundtrack.
- What plays
- Each frame for its duration, with your storyboard's soundtrack underneath.
- Delivery
- Click Start a new render. The download link appears in the export panel when the MP4 is ready.
- Size
- Up to 500 frames and 13 minutes. A 16:9 storyboard renders at 1920×1080.
- Plans
- Paid plans. Trial animatics are watermarked. Not on Free.
Every frame as an image
One file per frame for editors, VFX, mood boards or the project archive.
- What's in the ZIP
- One image per frame, a text file of each frame's label and notes, and your soundtrack, if your storyboard has one.
- Filenames
- Numbered, such as
frame-0001.jpg, or named after each frame’s label. - Delivery
- Boords builds the ZIP and emails you a link. It works for 24 hours, then the file is deleted.

Good to know
- One-off files
- An export is a copy of the board at that moment. Export again after the next round of changes.
- Frame timings
- Frames without a duration last 2 seconds in animatics and editing-app exports.
- Animatic cuts
- Frames cut straight from one to the next. Add transitions and subtitles in the edit.
- Image formats
- Image ZIPs hold your JPG and PNG frames. SVG frames are left out.
- Word from a storyboard
- The storyboard .docx is text only. For frames with images, use PDF, Slides or the spreadsheet.
- Script exports
- Scripts export from the script editor's own Export menu, not the storyboard's.
